Cigna Therapists in White Plains and Westchester, NY
We’re in network with Cigna for therapy in New York. All of our New York sessions are by secure video, so you can meet from White Plains, Scarsdale, New Rochelle, Yonkers, Rye or anywhere else in the state. You need to be physically in New York at the time of each session. We check your Cigna benefits before you book, and most people are seen within a week.
To begin, contact us or check your insurance. We offer individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy — by telehealth across twelve states, including Florida, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Which Cigna Plans We Take
We’re set up for Cigna’s commercial and employer plans, including Open Access Plus (OAP), PPO, HMO and EPO products. LocalPlus is a narrower network, and a LocalPlus plan can behave differently from other Cigna plans, so we check it individually. Cigna-branded Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans are outside what we take, because we aren’t Medicare or Medicaid providers.
We don’t accept employee assistance program (EAP) authorizations. If you’d like to work with us, we bill your regular Cigna behavioral health benefit instead.
Cigna, Evernorth and Your Benefits
Your card says Cigna, but your therapy claims are handled by Evernorth Behavioral Health, Cigna’s behavioral health arm. That’s why the mental health phone number on your card may differ from the main one, and why therapists are listed in a separate directory from physicians.
What you pay depends on your plan: a copay or coinsurance once any deductible is met, and the contracted rate before it is. If your employer self-funds its plan, Cigna may only be the administrator, and your employer sets what’s covered. For most Cigna commercial plans you don’t need a referral, although some HMO and LocalPlus plans are stricter. We check all of this for you. Our guide to Cigna therapy coverage goes into more detail.
What We Help With
Our New York team sees adults, couples, families and teens by video for:
- Anxiety, stress and life transitions
- Depression
- Trauma
- Couples therapy and marriage counseling
- Family therapy
- Teens ages 13 to 17
- Grief and loss
A note on couples sessions: Cigna usually covers couples therapy only when one partner has a diagnosed condition and the couples work is part of treating it. Relationship distress alone is generally not covered. We’ll tell you what your plan says before you start.
How to Start With Cigna
- Reach out. Call (914) 236-4450 or send a message through our contact form.
- We check your Cigna benefits. We need your member ID, group number and the subscriber’s name and date of birth. Results come by email within one to two business days.
- We match you with a New York therapist whose approach fits what you’re looking for.
- Meet by secure video. Sessions are 45–50 minutes, and evening appointments are available by arrangement.
A benefits check is an estimate of coverage, not a guarantee of payment. If a claim comes back differently, we’ll tell you promptly.
Across Westchester and New York
Clients meet with us from White Plains, Scarsdale, Harrison, Rye, New Rochelle, Yonkers and across Westchester County, and from anywhere else in New York. Our White Plains address is 75 South Broadway, Suite 4-4413, White Plains, NY 10601; sessions themselves are online. For more, see our White Plains page and our page on online therapy in New York.
Cigna Questions
Does Cigna cover therapy in White Plains?
Cigna commercial and employer plans generally include outpatient therapy, and we’re in network with Cigna in New York. What you pay depends on your plan, so we check it before your first session.
Is Evernorth the same as Cigna?
For therapy, yes in practice. Evernorth Behavioral Health processes the mental health claims on a Cigna plan, while your medical claims stay with Cigna.
Do I need a referral?
Usually not. Most Cigna commercial plans let you book therapy directly. Some HMO and LocalPlus plans route through a primary care physician, and we’ll check that when we verify your benefits.
What will my copay be?
It depends on what your employer bought, from a small copay to the full contracted rate before your deductible is met. That’s why we check rather than quote.
Do you accept Cigna EAP sessions?
No. We don’t accept EAP authorizations. EAP sessions would be with a provider on your EAP’s own list. If you’d like to work with us, we bill your regular Cigna behavioral health benefit.
What if you’re out of network on my plan?
You still have options. Many Cigna PPO plans have out-of-network benefits, and we can provide a superbill for you to submit. Self-pay is $125 per individual session and $175 for couples, family or EMDR, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
