Quick Questions About Online Therapy in Georgia

Is there an online therapist in Georgia who takes insurance?

Not in network yet. We work with Georgia clients by secure video statewide, but we have no Georgia insurance contracts today. Credentialing has started, and we are adding Georgia plans. Until a plan approves our Georgia clinician, you can pay out of pocket ($125 per individual session, $175 for a couples session) or use your out-of-network benefits with a superbill we give you. Call (404) 912-9984 or send us a message, and our team will look up your out-of-network benefits at no charge, usually within a couple of hours.

Is there an online couples therapist in Georgia?

Yes. Tamara Wright, LCSW, works with Georgia couples for us over secure video, wherever in the state you live. She works from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a strengths-based approach and draws on skills from the Gottman Method. You can each log in from a different spot, provided both of you are in Georgia at session time.

Is there an online therapist in Georgia for teens?

Yes. Tamara Wright, LCSW, sees teens ages 13 to 17 by secure video anywhere in Georgia, for worry, low mood, stress, self-esteem and tense relationships at home or school. Your teen needs to be in Georgia during each session. Children under 13 and whole-family sessions aren’t part of our Georgia work right now, and no medication is prescribed in Georgia.

Helping Individuals, Couples, and Teens in Georgia

It is 5:40 on a Tuesday and the Downtown Connector has stopped moving again. You are somewhere between the North Avenue exit and the split, and the thing you have carried all week (the tight chest before every meeting, the 2 a.m. replay of a conversation that went sideways) has nowhere to go except around the car with you. (This scene is invented to illustrate; it is not about a client.) An hour lost to traffic is also why many people in metro Atlanta never make it to a therapist’s office. So here is the plain version up front: New Reflections Counseling sees Georgia clients by secure video only. Our Atlanta office is an office address, not a place we hold sessions. Our only in-person offices are in Wellington, Florida, and Cary, North Carolina, and neither is a practical option if you live in Georgia, so every Georgia session happens on a screen.

Ready to start, or want to know what it would cost first? Contact us or check your out-of-network benefits (free, and it commits you to nothing). In Georgia we offer individual therapy, couples therapy and teen therapy (ages 13–17), including couples work that draws on skills from the Gottman Method. You can also browse all of our services. We are licensed in 12 states (full list below).

Georgia therapy at New Reflections Counseling is with Tamara Wright, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia with more than eight years of clinical experience. She treats anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties and self-esteem concerns in adults, works with couples, and sees teens ages 13 to 17. Georgia is the third state where she sees clients for us; she also works with North Carolina and South Carolina clients, all by video.

Supportive Therapy Tailored to Your Unique Experiences

Tamara works from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a strengths-based approach. In practice, CBT means looking closely at the moment things go wrong: the thought that fired, the feeling it set off, and what you did next. With anxiety, that might mean catching the “what if” spiral early and checking it against what actually happens. With depression, the work often starts with small, planned actions (behavioral activation) that rebuild momentum before motivation returns. Strengths-based means starting from what already works in your life and building on it, instead of cataloging everything that doesn’t. Clients usually leave a session with something specific to try before the next one.

To be straight about scope: Georgia therapy is CBT-based. EMDR, IFS and EFT, which we offer in some of our other states, are not available in Georgia. We prescribe only in Florida, New Jersey, Colorado and North Carolina. In Georgia, Tamara can work with you while your own doctor or prescriber handles any medication. Right now Tamara is our only Georgia clinician, so there are fewer appointment times than in states with a larger team. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm; if you need a particular time of day, say so on the first call and we will tell you honestly whether it is open.

We commonly help clients with:

Anxiety, worry and the “what if” spiral
Depression and low mood
Stress from work, caregiving or a big move
Low self-esteem and self-criticism
Couples conflict and communication
Teens dealing with worry, low mood or stress

Convenient Telehealth Counseling Across Georgia

Video sessions work the same way whether you are in a Midtown apartment, a home office in Alpharetta or Marietta, a spare bedroom in Decatur, or well outside the Perimeter. Where you live in Georgia doesn’t change who you can see or what a session costs. You need a private space, a phone or computer with a camera, and a steady connection.
In addition to Georgia, telehealth counseling is also available for clients located in FL, NY, NJ, CT, NC, SC, RI, CO, PA, IL, and TN.

Online Couples Therapy in Georgia

Georgia couples work with Tamara Wright, LCSW, over secure video. With couples she uses the same CBT and strengths-based approach: slowing down the moment a conversation turns, so each of you can see the interpretation that made a small thing into a fight (“you never listen,” “you’re going to leave”), and starting from what already works between you. Every couples clinician on our team draws on skills from the Gottman Method in this work. Joint sessions are not the right first step for every couple: if there is violence, threats or controlling behavior at home (being tracked, cut off from money or friends, or afraid of how the other person will react), start with safety. If you are in danger, call 911; the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233. Individual sessions may still be an option.

Does insurance cover couples therapy in Georgia?

Not through a Georgia network yet, because we have no Georgia insurance contracts. Even where a plan covers therapy, couples sessions are often paid only when they are part of treating one partner’s diagnosed condition, since insurers cover treatment of a condition, not the relationship itself. Our free benefits check can ask your plan what it reimburses out of network for couples sessions. Self-pay for a 45–50 minute couples session is $175, and HSA and FSA cards work.

What if one of us is in Georgia and the other is in another state?

Licensure is about where each of you is sitting during the session. Tamara is licensed in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, so a couple split between Atlanta and Charlotte or Greenville can still meet with her. A partner calling in from Tennessee, Alabama or Florida can’t join. If you are both in Georgia, any two places work.

Want to know whether your out-of-network benefits would help before you decide? Send your plan details through our insurance verification form and we will email what we find, usually within a couple of hours. Or contact us with any question first.

Helping Teens and Their Parents in Georgia

Tamara sees teens ages 13 to 17 in Georgia, by secure video. Teens come in for many of the same things adults do: worry, low mood, stress, self-esteem, and friendships or family relationships that have gotten tense. CBT tends to suit teens because it is concrete: what happened, what went through your head, what you did, and what you might try next time.

Licensure follows where the teen is physically located, so your teen needs to be in Georgia during each session. If you are a parent, you can call us first and ask anything before you book. We are not seeing children under 13 or holding whole-family sessions in Georgia right now; if that is what you need, call before you book and we will tell you plainly whether we can help in Georgia yet.

If your teen, or you, is thinking about suicide or is in crisis, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. You can also call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line at 1-800-715-4225, or 911 in an emergency.

Where in Georgia We Work

Every Georgia session is held by secure video, so your county doesn’t decide who you see. People join from Atlanta and the surrounding metro (Decatur, Marietta, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Roswell and Smyrna) as well as from Savannah, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Athens and the smaller towns in between. Our Atlanta office at 1201 West Peachtree Street NW, Suite 2300, Atlanta, GA 30309 is an office address only; we don’t see clients there.

One rule comes from licensure, not from us: you have to be physically in Georgia at the time of the session, because our Georgia clinician is licensed here. A Chattanooga hotel room or a Florida beach condo doesn’t count, even if you live in Atlanta. Frequent travelers should mention it on the first call. And for your safety, we don’t hold sessions while you are driving. A parked car is fine; the Connector at rush hour is not.

Insurance, Fees and Getting Verified

Here is the straight answer. We are in network with several major insurance plans in our other states, but we have no Georgia insurance contracts yet. Credentialing in Georgia has just started, and until a plan approves our Georgia clinician, we are out of network with that plan. We would rather tell you here than at intake. Self-pay is $125 per individual session and $175 for a couples session, each 45–50 minutes. HSA and FSA cards work, and we can give you a written Good Faith Estimate before your first session. You pay per session, with no packages and nothing to buy up front; the intake is billed at the regular session rate.

If your plan has out-of-network benefits (many PPO plans do; HMO and EPO plans often don’t), we give you a superbill, a detailed receipt with the codes your plan asks for. You send it in, and your plan reimburses you directly for whatever your out-of-network benefit allows. Our benefits check form lets us check what your plan pays out of network and where your deductible stands before you commit to anything. Medicare and Medicaid aren’t accepted. We are adding Georgia insurance plans and will update this page as each one is approved.

What a First Session Looks Like

Starting takes three steps. Call (404) 912-9984 or use our contact form, and we will confirm you are in Georgia, hear a little about what you are looking for and check that Tamara is a good fit. If you like, we check your out-of-network benefits next. Then we send intake forms, which have to be completed before an appointment can be booked, and schedule your intake session.

The intake is mostly listening: why now, what has helped or not helped before, and what would make therapy worth your time. For couples, the early sessions map the pattern between you before anyone tries to change it. One appointment doesn’t lock you into months of therapy, and there is no set number of sessions. We do not offer free consultations; the first step is the intake itself.

Common Questions from Georgia Clients

How much does therapy cost in Georgia without insurance?
Self-pay is $125 per individual session and $175 for a couples session. Sessions are 45–50 minutes, and you can ask for a Good Faith Estimate in writing.

Do you have an office in Atlanta?
We have an office address in Midtown Atlanta, but we don’t see clients there. All Georgia sessions are by secure video.

Can I have my session if I’m out of Georgia that day?
Only if you are in a state where your clinician is licensed. Tamara is also licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina, so a work trip to Charlotte or Greenville may still work; a trip to Florida or Tennessee won’t. Tell us ahead of time and we will check.

Do I need a diagnosis or a referral?
No. You do not need a diagnosis or a referral to start. Just tell us a little about what is going on and we will match you with a clinician licensed in your state.

At New Reflections Counseling (NRC), we understand that starting therapy can feel like a big step. The first session is a conversation about what brought you here now, what you have already tried, and what would make this worth continuing.

Therapy at NRC starts from your situation, not a script. Whether you are seeking support during a difficult time, looking to improve relationships, or working toward personal development, Tamara is here to guide and support you throughout the process.
