Our client centered therapeutic services are provided by a team that offers personalized intervention plans, educational resources, and support. Couples Therapy/Relationship Therapy

Couples Therapy and Relationship Therapy will involve sessions which help to identify your relationship challenges, as well as relationship strengths. We will help you work on issues together in a neutral environment for achieving more effective communication, conflict resolution skills and increased capacity for emotional expression and intimacy. We will work collaboratively with you to integrate your personal experience of the relationship into the development of interventions to be employed outside of sessions.

LGBTQIA

LGBTQIA couples encounter some unique issues in their relationships, and we are here to help. Secure attachment is imperative as our partners often shine the brightest lights into our deepest wounds. Our couples’ therapists will work with you to solve conflicts, build skills, feel more connected, and work to help heal and grow your relationship. We are committed to finding lasting solutions to any relational issues and a comfortable welcoming setting to provide this care. We are passionate about LGBTQIA+ life issues in today’s challenging world.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a joint process between a therapist and a person in therapy. Our goals of therapy can be to inspire change or improve quality of life. Therapeutic approaches to issues can help people overcome obstacles to their well-being. We look to increase positive feelings, such as compassion, healing, increased self-worth, and self-esteem. All while increasing skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching goals. Ideally looking to create more self-awareness and self-growth. Some of the obstacles that are we work to overcome here are anxiety, depression, work/life stress, issue in relationships, trouble sleeping, and overall wellness.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that seeks to reduce distress and conflict by improving the systems of interactions between family members. Families are the root of togetherness and at times the most powerful impact on our lives. When families are affected by turmoil all members of the family may feel an impact. Family therapists work with the family system and the relational patterns of interaction within families. This type of counseling views problems as patterns or systems that need adjusting, as opposed to viewing problems as residing in the person, which is why family therapy is often referred to as a “strengths-based treatment.” Family therapy can be helpful on many levels.  A good course of family therapy helps:

  • Develops and maintains healthy boundaries
  • Fosters cohesion and communication among family members
  • Promotes problem solving through understanding of family patterns and dynamics
  • Builds empathy and understanding.
  • Reduces family conflict

Parenting Education/Techniques

Most parents, no matter their background or socioeconomic standing, are somewhat frightened when it comes to the right parenting style for them. Parenting education or techniques can help parents learn more about what to expect in the coming years and prepare for each developmental stage. Since confident, decisive parents tend to raise confident, secure children, parenting education or techniques can give you a much-needed skill set and help decrease your feelings of anxiety. Active Parenting will give you skills to achieve a fuller, more satisfying family life… and help your children achieve greater happiness and success. Parenting education or techniques will lead to more harmony and happiness for you and your children. Some strategies for success will be combined with positive discipline and communication techniques to help your family run more smoothly.

Children/Adolescence/Teen Issues

Children/adolescents/teens receive mental health services for a variety of reasons and as children/adolescents/ teens grow, they are changing in a variety of ways. There are predictable ranges of cognitive, emotional, and social growth according to the age of a child and kids will experience shifts in their thinking, mood and behavioral patterns as they mature. Some child/adolescent/teen areas that might be addressed include: Learning, attention, or social skill problems, behavioral problems (such as excessive anger, aggression, acting out, opposition at school or home), peer problems, relationship difficulties, episodes of sadness, tearfulness, or irritability, difficulties with regulating mood, social withdrawal or isolation, obsessions or compulsions, experiencing bullying or bullying other children, excessive school absenteeism or tardiness, development of or an increase in physical complaints (such as headache, stomachache, or not feeling well) despite a normal physical exam by your doctor, signs of dependency, problems adjusting to transitions (following separation, divorce, or relocation), experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, signs of self-destructive behavior, such as head-banging, cutting, or extreme risk-taking, and repeated thoughts of death, suicide, or losing a peer or loved one to suicide.

Anger Management

Anger management refers to a process, which could support a person by identifying stressors and learning steps to help them stay calm in situations that increase anger. They may then handle tense situations in a constructive, positive way by learning and implementing coping skills to reduce anxiety or maladaptive behaviors. The purpose of anger management is reduces the emotional and physical arousal that anger can cause. It is generally impossible to avoid all people and settings that incite anger. But a person may learn to control reactions and respond in a socially appropriate manner. The goal of anger management therapy is to teach people how to examine their triggers. It also helps people adjust how they look at situations. Successful anger management therapy develops healthy ways for people to express anger and frustration. Some techniques used in anger management therapy include: Impulse control, Self-awareness, Meditation, Frustration management (sometimes by writing in an anger diary), Breathing techniques, and Relaxation strategies

Chemical & Codependency/Gambling

Therapist get to experience the rare opportunity to transform people’s lives when dealing with dependancies.  We will help identify the root causes of the dependency and work with internal and external factors that contribute to the disease. We will aid in discovering the tendencies that exacerbated the issues and what allows it to grow. Therapy will illuminate triggers and tailor a personalized treatment plan to decrease cravings and risk of relapse. Codependency involves sacrificing one’s personal needs to try to meet the needs of others. Their thoughts and actions revolve around other people, such as spouses or relatives. This identification often appears in relationships which are unbalanced and unhealthy which this person with codependency often tries to save others from themselves.

Grief and Loss

We are aimed to help those cope with the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive responses to loss. These experiences are commonly thought to be brought on by a loved person’s death, but may more broadly be understood as shaped by any significant life-altering loss (e.g., divorce, home foreclosure, or job loss). Grief and Loss therapy becomes necessary when a person is so disabled by their grief; and, so overwhelmed by their loss that their normal coping processes are disabled. We will help to facilitate expression of emotion and thought about the loss, including their feeling sad, anxious, angry, lonely, guilty, relieved, isolated, confused, or numb. Some tools we use are how to process and deal with guilt helping you organize the grief, distinguish grief from trauma, and just giving a safe scape to talk about the deceased

Trauma/PTSD/EMDR

In the world we live in today we are all somewhat exposed to trauma. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. It is an effective treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We have worked with clients how have suffered from unwanted and painful traumas making it difficult to feel safe and stable. Some experience feeling stuck reliving the traumatic event repeatedly, especially when you are faced with a trigger ie sight, sound, smell or other sensation that brings you back to the terror you felt. Our clinicians have used EMDR to treat: sexual trauma, physical and emotional abuse, bullying and peer conflict/rejection, death and grieving, military and veterans issues, car accidents/anxiety while driving, chemical dependence, anger, pain, and medical issues
